Details: Job: Imaging The Chief Radiation Therapy Technologist works with the Medical Director, Physicist, Dosimetrist, and Nurse, in all aspects of providing radiation therapy to oncology patients which includes treatments, quality improvement, quality control, tumor registry, transportation, radiation safety support and other related duties. Additional responsibilities include:Supervises radiation therapy department.Assists in tumor localization and administers treatment.Establishes work schedulesMaintains supplies and inventoryAssists in quality controlAssists in all management functions including scheduling and payrollCoordinates work flow and ensures proper staffingPerforms treatments as orderedEnsures that equipment is functioning properlyEnsures safety of work environmentPrepares budgets, evaluates staff, develops and monitors data and is responsible for preparation of annual reportDemonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients servedManually calculates and/or verifies monitor units calculationsPrepares room and equipment for patient by gathering all necessary equipment and setup devicesUses hand and couch controls, sets appropriate treatment unit parametersActivates the treatment unit and delivers the prescribed dose of radiationObtains appropriate port films on patients when prescribed; makes adjustments in field placement as neededMaintains visual and/or audible communication with the patient during treatmentMonitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systemsInstructs and educates patients and familiesDevelops films, stocks darkroom and maintains processor chemistryProvides age and culturally appropriate careOrients and mentors new staff membersFollows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
