Details: ABOUT THE FACILITYEmporia (population 26,760) and Lyon County (population 33,600) are located in eastern Kansas at the intersection of Interstate 35, Interstate 335 (Kansas Turnpike), U.S. Highway 50 and Kansas Highway 99. Newman Regional Health is licensed for 190-beds and currently operates under the 99-bed maximum associated with the swing bed Medicare guidelines. Number of staffed beds = 59. The facility is owned by Lyon County. A 12-bed inpatient rehab unit is included in the 190-bed total. Other services offered by the hospital include an owned orthopedic physician practice, a retail Durable Medical Equipment store, a Wound Care Clinic, a Home Health Agency and a Hospice Agency. A nine member Board of Trustees is appointed by the Lyon County Commissioners to oversee the governance of the hospital. The service area is approximately 83,700. There are 28 physicians on active staff and 115 consulting/courtesy physicians. ADC = 34.7. Gross Revenue = $104,206,510. Net Patient Revenue = $50,755,984. A/R days = 38.8 net. Bad Debt = $2,870,774. FTE’s/adjusted occupied bed = 5.24 There were recent renovations to the ambulatory surgery area, main entrance, imaging center, and other outpatient areas. There is also a new breast care center, DME satellite store, Wound Care Clinic space, as well as initial planning stages for a cardiology cath lab. QHR has had the management agreement since 1986 and has a good relationship with the Board.
